Crowns, Bridges and Dentures

If you have damaged or missing teeth, My Smile Health Center offers restorative treatments that can give you back your beautiful, fully functional smile. Many of our treatments give our patients options, such as choice of material, so you can choose the treatment that fits your needs, desires and budget.

Our digital scanner allows us to create impressions of your mouth with the exact measurements that we need for restorative treatments. Getting a digital scan is a faster, easier, and more comfortable experience compared to other methods of dental impressions. After taking the scan, we use the digital images to construct crowns, bridges, and dentures that are perfectly suited to your mouth.

A crown is a dental cap that is put over a cracked, weakened, or worn down tooth. Crowns are also commonly used for large cavities, or following root canal therapy. You have several different options when it comes to the material for your crown, including:

  • porcelain
  • ceramic
  • zirconia
  • metal, such as gold
  • composite resin
  • a combination of materials, such as ceramic or zirconia layered with porcelain

The various materials each have their own benefits and drawbacks. For example, metal crowns last a very long time, but are not as natural looking as porcelain. A combination of materials can give optimal results, such as ceramic and porcelain, which is both long-lasting and natural-looking. Your dentist will help you choose the material that best matches your needs and aesthetic preferences.

For patients who have some remaining natural teeth and do not need complete dentures, we provide metal and non-metal partial dentures.

Metal partial dentures are

  • Very strong and durable
  • Lightweight
  • Typically more expensive than plastic partial dentures
  • Made with a metal base covered in gum-colored plastic
  • Attached to the teeth with metal clasps

Non-metal partial dentures are

  • Usually made from plastic
  • Less expensive than metal partial dentures
  • Rigid or flexible, depending on which you prefer
  • Lighter and more comfortable than metal partial dentures

A CBCT (cone beam computed tomography) scan is a special kind of x-ray that generates a 3D image, which gives us more detailed information than a traditional x-ray. A CBCT scan can allow us to evaluate the position of the teeth, jaw and airway, and therefore can help us make more accurate diagnoses and create more precise treatment plans for our patients.
